Agribusiness Officer
For a period of 12 months with possibility of extension based on availability of funds .
General Objective
In the frame of Action Against Hunger programming in the Gaza Strip, the Agribusiness Officer will support the Economic Development Officer and Recovery Head of Project in the implementation and monitoring of Action Against Hunger livelihoods projects in the Gaza Strip, especially those supporting income generation, business and entrepreneurship. In particular, the Agribusiness Officer will fully collaborate with the Economic Development Officer in selecting agri-food businesses ideas based on market assessments, evaluating background, abilities, business ideas and motivation, coaching groups of participants on business development and life skills for them to acquire those personal and professional skills essential to start an entrepreneurial initiative, providing extension support and technical support to agribusiness development in collaboration with Economic Development team, encouraging networking among projects’ participants, stakeholders (such as CBOs, cooperatives and local partners), and with the private sector.
Tasks and responsibilities:
Implementation of the projects’ activities
- Define, in coordination with the FSL team, the activities work plan related to the support to the agribusinesses and farmers according to the projects’ objectives.
- Responsible to draft budget activities forecast reporting to head of project.
- Provide technical inputs and review of BoQs for inputs and materials for rehabilitation and agribusiness development
- Participate in the selection process for project’s rights holders’ selection
- Prepare project documents (including announcement, rights holders’ application, attendance sheets, rights holders’ agreements, MEAL tools, etc.)
- Carry out feasibility studies, group and individual coaching sessions and provide training according to the established methodology to training participants, businesses for rights holders’ personal and technical development
- Participate in preparing ToRs for technical trainings and assessments and coordinate with external service providers to deliver specific trainings and assessments.
- Create synergies among the different project and activities implemented in the same area, promoting networking and exchange among rights holders, partners, CBOs, cooperatives and other relevant actors
- Prepare and update rights holders files for each participant under the supervision of the project officer and in line with data quality standards
- Regularly monitor the performance of the supported businesses and farmers by conducting regular field visits to the project sites
- Any other tasks required by the FSL Head of Project, as per the needs of the projects.
Content development
- Contribute to the elaboration of training materials for coaching and mentorship activities
- Contribute to strategies development for market linkages activities with private sector actors
- Support implementation of FSL strategy on emergency and long-term agricultural livelihoods interventions
- Propose solutions and improvements relating to project progress
Reporting and Learning
- Participate in the preparation of the monthly "Activity Progress Reports" (APRs) submitting inputs to the FSL Head of Project.
- In coordination with the Economic Development Officer, and Engineer and with the MEAL department, collect data and follow up on the data entry of collected data.
- Participate in the preparation and collection of data and information for communication, advocacy and capitalization purposes (case studies, etc)
Profile Requirement:
- Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Science, Agri-business, Business management, or Economics, Master in a relevant field is a plus.
- Knowledge of livelihoods programming, with focus on agricultural Income Generating Activities, entrepreneurship and business development
- Knowledge in plant production and protection techniques and extension techniques.
- Minimum 2 years field experience in implementing, monitoring, and supervising Agricultural extension services, trainings with farmers.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in implementing economic empowerment initiatives, including agri-business and livelihoods projects
- Knowledge in humanitarian/emergency and/or recovery and development programming is a plus.
- Team spirit and focused on improving team’s knowledge and perspective.
- Fluency in reading, writing and speaking Arabic and English
- Very good knowledge of Office package (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
- Valuable prior experience in issues related to the promotion of gender equality or personal commitment to gender equality.
Compensation package:
From 68,580 ILS to 81,204 ILS gross/ year divided in 12 payments and based on experience. In addition, Action Against Hunger covers food and transportation allowances for a fully worked month.
