BACKGROUND
Life and Hope Association (LHA) is a non-governmental, non-profit and independent association founded in Gaza in 1996. LHA aims at contributing to the development and empowerment its beneficiaries toward a sustainable society based on the real and active participation for the beneficiaries specially the youth, children. and vulnerable groups.
JOB SUMMARY
In partnership with Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and funded by Global Affairs Canada GAC, LHA will start a project titled Resilient Families: Multi-Sectoral Humanitarian Response for Gazan Families in Crisis (2022-2023), LHA will target 300 HH, living in conflict-damaged or substandard shelters, with shelter rehabilitation and repair assistance
The project will provide shelter repair/ rehabilitation within the shelter cluster min. standards and will incorporate environmental learning practices and risk mitigation in its shelter response, particularly safe management of asbestos, integrating environmentally friendly technologies. into shelter rehabilitation and repairs. The shelter component of the project promotes the choice and dignity of the HH by offering a self-help approach that was preferred by the family, through which the family uses restricted cash assistance to directly implement prioritized repairs or rehabilitation.
LHA is recruiting candidates for the following position:
- Position Title: Shelter Project Coordinator (PC) – Full time
- Place: LHA Office, Jabalia
- Period: 16 Months
- Reports to: Program Manager
- Start Date: As soon as possible
Key Responsibilities:
- Effective supervision of project staff in the project.
- Supervise project implementation and work acceptance and approval.
- Maintain an overall overview of the project in relation to achievements, procedures, and timeframes.
- Ensure that all project activities are in accordance with budget lines and track the financial expenses.
- Maintain adequate administration and filing systems including all project-related documents.
- Conduct need assessments, prepare BoQs, provide direct technical support for site engineers & project participants.
- Plan and conduct regular field visits to ensure proper implementation of project activities on the ground.
- Document project success stories.
- Ensure safety procedures are in place in all project activities.
- Prepare regular briefings and reports to the direct supervisor, and keep accurate data of all project information.
- Take part in the regular team, program, and staff meetings.
- Ensure full cooperation/coordination with CRS and the local community.
- Support the dissemination of the LHA Safeguarding Policy & Code of Conduct and Ethics to staff members, project beneficiaries, employers, service providers, and relevant community members, including mechanisms to safely make reports or provide feedback and ensure compliance with this policy and immediately notify supervisor of any concerns.
- Perform any other tasks and duties as necessary throughout the life of the project.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Civil/ Architectural engineering or related field.
- Minimum three years’ experience in program/project management.
- Demonstrated experience in shelter assistance required.
- Work experience in rehabilitation of housing unit’s projects.
- Ability to work under pressure, independently and with limited supervision.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good writing and communication skills in both English and Arabic.
- Proficiency in computer applications (MS Word, Excel).
- Understanding of protection in humanitarian context.
- A resident of North Gaza or Gaza governorate.
