The Role
Oxfam Novib in OPTI is looking for a Media & Communication Officer to develop, produce, and manage Oxfam’s media and digital communication in the Occupied Palestinian Territory with a specific focus on Gaza.
What we are looking for
- We are looking for someone who has:
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills in Arabic and English
- Knowledge of local, regional and international mass media with a track record of success and results achieved; (job specific)
- Experience of producing high quality written and audio-visual materials, including experience using relevant editing software
- Education to degree level in job related sector (job specific)
- Professional communications skills, gained within a journalism/PR environment, to communicate and adapt complex policy and development issues to different levels of target audience; (job specific)
- Excellent networking and negotiation skills to develop good working relationships within Oxfam and with the media; (communications; influencing others)
- Ability to think and operate strategically and creatively (analytical thinking)
- Skilled in an integrated approach to advocacy that includes lobbying, public campaigning (critical information gathering; knowledge management and conceptual thinking)
- Understanding of gender issues and commitment to promoting gender equity (job specific; conceptual thinking)
- Proven experience of using MS Office applications (Word, Excel and Power Point) (job specific)
- Demonstrable ability to think strategically, organize, plan and prioritise work to achieve results
- Flexibility, ability to work independently and under pressure. (adaptable and flexible; initiative).
- Keeps up to date with internal or external activities which may influence role.
- Anticipates outcomes of activities and uses initiative to keep these activities on course.
- Actively promotes high standards and continuous improvement.
Desirable
- Well understanding of media production technical aspects (filming, editing, motion, sound editing and photography).
- Experience in emergency communication, risk communication and community engagement.

What we offer
The employee will be contracted by Oxfam with a competitive, fair and comprehensive pay and benefits package that is justifiable to our donors. Salary range 107,376 – 168,662 ILS gross per annum, for a 40 hour contract. Salary offered will be subject to funding available and competences.
