The ICRC office in Gaza is looking for candidates to fill in the following position:
- Function : Psychologist

- Type of Contract : One year Fixed Term contract

PURPOSE
Psychologist implements Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) activities as defined in collaboration with the relevant coordinator at local and national level. S/he provides direct support to victims of armed conflict and/or other situations of violence and/or trains, supervises and coaches’ others to do so. In same contexts this position could manage pre-established national level MHPSS programs.
Main Tasks:
- Develops, implements and follows up on MHPSS activities at local and national level.
- Budget managing and tracing and administrating the implementation needed documents.
- Technically Supervising the Implements MHPSS activities directly through individual consultations or group support meetings.
- Organizes referral of beneficiaries and performs case follow-up.
- Complying with ICRC standards, sets up culturally and context-appropriate monitoring and evaluation tools and ensures regular data collection.
- Develops and maintains contacts with health authorities, academia, technical advisers from other organizations, etc. as necessary.
- Creates and maintains direct links with MHPSS programme beneficiaries.
- Capacity building and supports MHPSS staff from the ICRC and other organizations/partners/teams as per the programme strategy.
- Maintains regular communication with the Mental Health & psychological delegate and/or Health Coordinator, providing data and programme updates.
Scope & Impact
Remit: local or national.
Could manage a small team of up to 4 resident staff (Psychologist level 1) and/or Health Core Trainees/Assistants).
Relationships
Internally, interacts with ICRC staff related to the specific programme (Health team, Protection team, Physical Rehabilitation team, etc.).
Externally, interacts with governmental authorities at various levels, local Red Cross/Crescent branches, institutional authorities, other local partners, specific population groups, suppliers, etc.
Education and professional experience requirements:
- University degree in clinical psychology (minimum 4 years’ university study) or psychiatry (minimum 5 years' university study).
- Master’s degree in clinical psychology is an asset.
- Fluent command of English as well as the main local language.
- License to practice in your country.
- Computer proficiency.
- 3 to 5 years of overall professional experience with minimum 2 years’ experience in MHPSS programmes.
- Experience in managing teams is an asset.
- Experience in training and coaching teams.
- Red Cross/Red Crescent experience an asset.
- Clinical and/or psychosocial experience with war-wounded, first responders and/or sexual violence.
- Humanitarian experience an asset.
