Advocacy Officer - Al Mezan Center for Human Rights
Al Mezan Center for Human Rights is a non-partisan, non-governmental human rights organization based in the Gaza Strip. Al Mezan was established in 1999 to protect and advance the respect of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territory, with a focus on economic, social and cultural rights. Through legal initiative, advocacy and training, Al Mezan strives to protect the rights of vulnerable populations and victims of international law violations. Al Mezan gained special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council in 2010.

Duties and responsibilities:
The Advocacy Officer will support the work of the local and international advocacy departments and will fulfill the following main responsibilities:
- Draft and edit press releases, reports, statements and submissions, including to UN bodies;
- Support strategy development, planning and implementation of local and international advocacy;
- Prepare and participate in advocacy missions and meetings;
- Support outreach and communications with partner organizations and stakeholders;
- Assist in management of legal, advocacy and visibility components of project work.
Qualifications:
- Excellent command of written and spoken English and fluent in Arabic;
- Master’s degree in human rights, international relations, law, political science or related field;
- In depth knowledge of the applicable international legal framework in Palestine, and the Gaza Strip in particular;
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in human rights advocacy;
- Proactive, organized, able to work independently, and possessing a keen eye for detail.
