Expected duration
- The duration of the consultancy is 3 to 11 months, extendable according to performance and availability of funds.
- Remuneration for this consultancy will be 1,600 USD and depend on the qualifications and relevant experience.
- The incumbent can be in any UNRWA field of operations (Gaza, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, or West Bank).
Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor the queue, paying special attention to UNICC Database Hosting services SLAs.
- Prioritize resolution, follow procedures to resolve incidents, implement changes, propose problem records for recurring incidents
- interact with other DBA team members to solve incidents in the queue.
- Patching, upgrades, database clones and backups, and NAS storage snapshot/clone/replication technology.
- provide on-call support (remotely using VPN connectivity)
- Perform other duties as may be required.
Qualifications/special skills
- A university degree from an accredited educational institution in information technology, information management, Information systems, computer science, computer engineering, Software engineering, Business Administration, Management, or other related disciplines;
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in Database Administration, preferably currently running versions of Open Source-based DB technology components (database, application, etc.), primarily PostgreSQL, MySQL/MariaDB, MongoDB. Any experience in Oracle database administration is welcome.
The resource MUST have the following experience:
- Experience in Database Administration
- Experience in Database backup and recovery
- Experience in Database high availability
The resource SHOULD have the experience in:
- Incident, change, and problem management.
Desirable certifications:
- Any certifications related to Database Administration
Competency:
- Willingness to learn on the job and adjust roles as required
- Good communication and collaboration skills and a good level of spoken/written English language
