Accountant - Amideast (RAMALLAH)

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Accountant is responsible for the preparation of clear, thorough, accurate and correct accounting documents in compliance with all Amideast accounting and financial procedures and policies through the use of computer software applications. The Accountant will work closely with the Finance and Admin Officer to ensure that all financial documents meet the level of accuracy and precision required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Reviews and enters vouchers daily into accounting system, after ensuring that account numbers and project numbers are active
  2. Prepares payments for review and signature, ensuring proper backup documentation to all payments and receipts
  3. Verifies Cashier’s income vouchers and petty cash expense vouchers against receipts and vouchers on a daily basis, and prepares for deposit
  4. Prepare monthly employee and IC tax forms and submit to the Ministry of Finance
  5. Maintains auditable inventories of resale items and fixed assets
  6. Assists in the procurement of office supplies, equipment, furniture, etc. following Amideast and U.S. government regulations
  7. Assists in preparation of monthly financial reports to HQ
  8. Allocates courier, telephone bills and supplies to projects
  9. Ensures proper coding and monthly reconciliation of American Express charges
  10. Compiles documentation required for annual financial audits
  11. Assists in monitoring of budgets as requested
  12. Back up for the Cashiers in case of absence
  13. Maintains finance and administration filing systems
  14. Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

Required

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  2. A minimum of 2 to 3 years’ experience in an accounting role in a corporate finance environment or related role
  3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office including advanced Excel
  4. Professional proficiency in verbal and written English- minimum TOEIC score of 850 or equivalent
  5. Demonstrated analytical skills
  6. A solid understanding of accounting principles
  7. Responds in a timely, effective and efficient way to customers’ requests and resolves customer complaints on time
  8. Takes personal responsibility for delivery of results on time and to quality standards

Preferred

  1. Experience using Deltek and Cost Point software
  2. Working knowledge of the Hebrew language
  3. Experience with conducting or participating in financial audits
  4. Working knowledge of financial management of non-profit organizations, including FASB and United States GAAP rules.
  5. Understanding of OMB Circulars A-110 and A-122
