FUNCTION
Translator
ROLE IN THE ORGANIZATION
The Translator is under the supervision of the ORPH Project Officer, S/he is responsible for translation works’ aspects of the Project and s/he will work in close cooperation with SIF team. During any periods of low need for translation/interpreting support, the translator will be tasked to provide administrative assistance to the Project. Therefore the Translator will be responsible for the following tasks:
Translation from English to Arabic and vice versa:
- Translate English into Arabic and vice versa, the orphans’ documents, including reports, assessment sheets, and other materials as requested in support of Orphans Sponsorship Project .
- Ensure that the translated text is linguistically and grammatically correct and error free, and that it meets the standards of completely edited and revised with an eye toward maintaining its original format (e.g. font and structure);
- Maintain confidentiality of materials translated and share them only with SIF.
Administrative Work:
- Maintain good archiving system which includes establishing a cross-referenced database for archives of translation;
- Data entry for the project’s data which is collected from the field; using different applications such like Sales Force and Kobo.
Support/ in the Field Work/ Other Department
- Assist in conducting field visits to various locations in the Gaza Strip when needed.
- Participate in and contribute to various projects upon need, including fulfilling receptions gaps, in addition to receiving visitors and addressing and documenting their requests;
- Any other related duties as may be required and assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCES
- A Bachelor degree from an accredited university in English Language or relevant field;
- Minimum 3 years work experience in the similar position in an international organization;
- Ability to perform translation tasks with minimal supervision;
- High proficiency in speaking and writing skills in both Arabic and English;
- Excellent communication skills and flexibility;
- Good knowledge in drafting success stories, case studies and letters in English.
- Ability to work within a team and bear the pressure of work;
- Ability to establish effective working relationships and deal with people with different backgrounds, cultures and nationalities;
- Very good computer skills: MS Office (specially Word and Excel);
- Ability to travel frequently and under the particular travel requirements of the assignment.

- Location: Gaza Strip
- Duration: 1 year (renewable)
