Background


Bayader for Environment & Development (Bayader) is a non – government organization established in 2007 aiming to develop the Palestinian community and work at the sectors of food security, women and childhood, Community development, economic empowerment and emergency response & early recovery.

Job summary: 

Islamic Relief worldwide Palestine office in partnership with Bayader is in the process to start implementation of project “Provision of multi-sectorial Humanitarian Assistance to the most vulnerable and affected-crisis households”.

The objective of this project is to provide a quality and equitable multi-sectorial humanitarian assistance for the most vulnerable households affected by May’s escalation of violence and the protracted humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip. Specifically, the affected households will be targeted with diverse assistance and protection, including the following areas of intervention:

Provision of food vouchers for the most vulnerable HHs facing severe food insecurity and protection concerns.
Rehabilitation to moderately and lightly damaged homes because of the conflict and basic shelter NFIs.
Within this project, Bayader is recruiting candidates for the following position:

  • Position Title: Social Worker (SW) – Full Time (40 working hours per week)
  • Place: Bayader Office, Khan Younis
  • Reports to: Project Coordinator (PC).
  • # Of Position Available: 2
  • Period: 8 Months

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct social assessments for potential beneficiary households.
  2. Lead consultation discussions with households to identify rehabilitation needs in coordination with Site Engineer.
  3. The SW will be responsible for conducting field visits to homes of nominee list for shelter and e voucher nominee to fill the social form to help identification of project beneficiaries.
  4. Collect the necessary supportive documents from the nominee.
  5. Participation with site engineer in the field work especially in the social field survey.
  6. Participation on fellow up and documentation the file belongs to field survey.
  7. Monitor the process of purchasing the Essential Household Items through the E-voucher system
  8. Map existing services in target neighborhoods to inform referral systems.
  9. Conduct semi-structured interviews and focus group discussions, seeking meaningful engagement of all household members.
  10. Communicate with families and beneficiaries in a clear, professional, and respectful manner.
  11. Perform any other tasks required by the PC related to the project.

Qualification and Experience:

  1. A Bachelor’s degree in social development or any related field with at least good grade.
  2. Three years of professional experience in similar position.
  3. One year experience working with NGOs.
  4. Proven ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  5. Ability to work under pressure and within a team.
  6. Good computer literacy.
  7. Understand and work with local contexts (operational and cultural).
  8. Excellent reporting and formal writing skills in both English and Arabic.
  9. Good computer literacy.
