Communications and Reporting Specialist

Global Communities is seeking a Communications and Reporting Specialist for the USAID-funded Household WASH program in Gaza. The three-year program will improve human health, environmental health and livelihoods in vulnerable communities by increasing access to facilities and services for safe domestic water and improved sanitation. Priorities include: 1) Providing durable solutions to vulnerable communities, such as the establishment, extension or rehabilitation of water distribution networks and sanitation systems at the household and neighborhood levels; and 2) Increasing emergency WASH preparedness interventions to mitigate and reduce rainwater and sewage flooding risks in vulnerable communities.

Responsibilities:

The Communications and Reporting Specialist specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Oversee the development of a rich content library including but not limited to factsheets, videos, personal stories, statistics, infographics, images, and other materials for use in both online and offline collateral.
  2. Develop, implement and drive GHW and organization-wide digital strategy, including the development of KPIs for digital communications, social media, and website.
  3. Ensure branding, brand guidelines, and consistent tone and messaging are embedded throughout GHW and Global Communities activities and external communications, to continue building brand awareness.

Reporting

  1. Provide ongoing updates on GHW activities and results
  2. Maintain a register of donor reporting requirements and ensure that these are adequately met
  3. Contributes to the development of the quarterly and annual reporting
  4. Maintain current records in the database and develop mechanisms to enable sub-award tracking
  5. Support the CE in managing the sub-award reporting requirements for partners and ensure full compliance with sub-award /grant reporting requirements
  6. Work closely with CE, SMELS, SIO, and COP to prepare and draft relevant GHW Activity report
  7. Provide additional ad-hoc reports as required by the COP
  8. Develop strong relationships with GHW program teams to ensure information collected for reporting and other requests from COP and donors are accurate and timely
  9. Drafting, editing, and publishing content through digital communication channels (website, Facebook, etc.)
  10. Adhere to the organization style guide, ensuring that GHW produces a high-quality and error-free copy.
  11. Collaborates with the M&E team to develop lessons learned and best practice documents.
  12. Support and evaluate results of communication and public-based events with the team.

Communication

  1. Lead the ongoing design, development, and delivery of digital communications, including but not limited to the GC website, digital communications (e-newsletters), and social media platforms
  2. Develop and implement coordinated social media strategy and align messaging, content, and tone with broader GHW and Global Communities’ key messages and media activity.
  3. Manages the distribution and correct usage of branding, marking, and communications materials.
  4. Develops effective and innovative tools and systems to market the program to GHW’s target neighborhoods.
  5. Supports Chief Engineer, Social Inclusion Officer, and the Public Health Officer in developing GHW’s integrated WASH, health promotion, and social inclusion strategies.
  6. Produces and manages Audio, Visual, and Digital Communications media Platforms
  7. Write press releases, fact sheets, success stories, articles, and others.
  8. Produce and manage media materials and content for the GHW website, infographics, blogs, and newsletters.
  9. Supports the development of household hygiene promotion materials.
  10. Interviews beneficiaries to develop success stories.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Media Studies); Master’s degree preferred;
  2. Seven+ years of experience in relevant roles, including experience leading the communication and reporting-related function (or sub-function)
  3. Experience in working with international development organizations is preferred;
  4. Experience in working with donors and USAID-funded projects is a plus
  5. Demonstrated skills, knowledge, and experience in media and public relations, brand management, internal communications, and partners/stakeholder management, preferably including experience in not-for-profit organizations
  6. Demonstrated high-level skills in managing partners/stakeholder relations
  7. Highly collaborative, with demonstrated ability to engage with colleagues with respect, and earn respect. Has the ability to work independently and as part of the team
  8.  A proven track record in writing successful reports, stories, fact sheets, articles, etc.
  9. Experience with, and ability to work with communities in cultural sensitivity and appropriate manner
  10. Demonstrated success in developing and implementing online and offline campaigns.
  11. Demonstrated understanding and experience with donor acquisition and stewardship
  12. A systematic thinker who thrives in an environment that is ambiguous and complex
  13. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated high-level organizational skills
  14. Ability to handle multiple demands simultaneously
  15. Full professional proficiency in spoken and written in both English and Arabic;
