CONTEXT AND BACKGROUND


Secours Islamique France (SIF) is a Non-Governmental Organization of international solidarity based in France. Founded in 1991, SIF is a non-profit and non-political organization that intents to help, to bring relief and to protect the lives of those threatened by natural disasters, armed conflicts or by economic collapse. SIF provides its help in respect of the cultural diversity, without any distinction of origin, religion or gender. SIF Palestine Mission was established in 2008 and since then, it has set up many concrete activities in order to help in a large scale and developed a comprehensive knowledge of the local context and understanding of local needs.

ROLE IN THE ORGANIZATION

The Social Worker is under the supervision of ORPH Administrative Officer, she is responsible for field visits works’ aspects, and she will work in close cooperation with SIF team; therefore the Social Worker will be responsible for the following tasks:

Field Related-Work:

  • Conduct home visits for beneficiaries, collect information about them, fill in questionnaires, prepare reports;
  • Assess beneficiaries’ needs based on the data gathered from the field, and report recommendations based on the results of the home visits’ assessment;
  • Prepare periodic reports about the beneficiaries.
  • Participate in developing implementation and follow-up plans to the field work;
  • Distribute the sponsorship vouchers to beneficiaries.
Office Related-Work:

  • Maintain good archiving system which includes establishing a cross-referenced database for the beneficiaries’ files;
  • Data entry for the beneficiaries’ data which is collected from the field; using different applications such like Sales Force and Kobo.
Support Team and Other Departments:

  • Participate in and contribute to various tasks upon need, including fulfilling receptions gaps;
  • Receive and register new orphans; in addition to receiving visitors/beneficiaries and addressing and documenting their requests;
  • Any other related duties as may be required and assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCES

  1. A Bachelor degree from an accredited university in Social Service or Sociology, or relevant field;
  2. Minimum 3 years work experience in the field of social research and field work, with at least one year in international institutions;
  3. Good reports writing and time management skills;
  4. Ability to work within a team and bear the pressure of work and the possibility of delay after official working hours;
  5. Good skills in coordination, communication and networking with all relevant parties;
  6. Ability to establish effective working relationships and deal with people with different backgrounds, cultures and nationalities;
  7. Good computer skills: MS Office (specially Word and Excel);
  8. Ability to perform translation tasks with minimal supervision;
  9. Good writing skills in both Arabic and English.

Taking initiative, capacity to prioritize, networking and partnership development, sense of responsibility and coordination skills, good interpersonal skills, patient and ready to listen to people, open-minded and have collective approach and strong humanitarian motivation.

WORKING CONDITIONS  

  • Location: Gaza Strip
  • Duration:1 year “renewable”
  • Starting Date: As Soon As Possible
