PROGRAM/DEPARTMENT SUMMARY:
Gaza Sky Geeks (GSG) is Gaza’s leading co-working space, tech education hub, and startup accelerator, run by Mercy Corps, a nonprofit international relief and development organization with programs in the occupied Palestinian territories since the 1980s. Mercy Corps founded GSG in partnership with Google.org in 2011. We bring together online freelancers, outsourcers, and startup founders together under one roof to share ideas, best practices, code, and build brighter futures through the power of the internet. Gaza Sky Geeks’ overarching goal is to build an internationally competitive technology ecosystem in Gaza through online freelancing, outsourcing, and startups.
About AWS re/Start:
AWS re/Start is a full-time, skills development program that prepares learners for careers in the cloud. Through real-world, scenario-based learning and hands-on labs, learners gain the technical skills they need for entry-level cloud roles. AWS re/Start also focuses on building professional skills such as adaptive communication, time management, and collaboration. The program’s mission is to build a diverse pipeline of entry-level cloud talent.
Curriculum:
The program helps individuals build skills around AWS Core Services and covers foundational introduction of Cloud concepts as the advantages of Cloud Technologies, key technologies offered through the Cloud (Computing, Storage, Networking, Security, and Database), and Programming concepts. Each cohort of learners, supported by professional mentors and accredited trainers, completes a cloud training curriculum, which features scenario-based learning, hands-on labs, projects, and coursework to exercise real-life processes.
In addition to technical skills, AWS re/Start teaches employability skills to prepare learners to succeed in a professional environment by teaching them to think critically, build multi-level projects, plan projects, and communicate effectively.
ESSENTIAL JOB Requirements:
Summary of Program Instructor requirements:
- AWS SysOps Administrator – Associate certification or AWS Solution Architect
- – Associate Certification active through the duration of instruction. Professional level certifications in Solution Architect or DevOps are also accepted;
- One year of experience in teaching technical IT content covering at least four of the five areas mentioned below:
- Linux Operating System.
- Scripting languages such as Shell and Python.
- Networking and Security concepts.
- Relational Databases.
- DevOps Concept and Processes.
