Org. Setting and Reporting
The incumbent will report to the Protection and Neutrality Team Leader and works closely with the Protection Data Coordinator and IMPD focal point for data management technical support, as well as Humanitarian Principles Officers, Protection Officer, Gender/GBV Officer, Child Protection Officer and Associate Protection and Neutrality Officers for the technical guidance on protection and humanitarian principles.
Responsibilities
In accordance with Agency policy and procedures, the incumbent:
- . Supports team members with data cleaning from primary or secondary sources and maintaining databases/data systems within Protection, Gender/GBV, Child Protection, and Humanitarian Principles areas.
- . Liaises with field and HQ IT/database staff as appropriate, and where relevant with external service providers – writes database documentation to including data standards, procedures, and definitions, produces reports and analysis, and evaluates and proposes changes to existing databases
- . Monitors and oversees P&N hardware and software resources – including monitoring confidentiality and established standards for infrastructure support, data security and the physical security of materials, equipment, files, and other items within the Protection & Neutrality Office in close coordination with IMPD and Protection Data Coordinator,
- . Assists in the design, layout and editing of information materials, including production of electronically published products, technical reports and forms.
- . Translates data results into written reports, or presentations to convey information to management.
- . Gathers and analyzes data from various databases and sources, performing statistical and/or mathematical programming.
- . The understanding of new data sources and process pipelines, and the ability to assist in cataloguing/documenting.
- . Provide support in analytics, information management, visualization, and performance optimization
- . Provides technical support and backstopping to all data related aspects of PNO’s workflow, including the trainings for the staff on the use of data collection and analysis tools,
- . Performs other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor(s).
Education
- - Master or Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Mathematics, Informatics or related area.
Work Experience
- It is required to have a minimum of three years relevant work experience for bachelor degree holders, or a minimum of 2 year of relevant work experience for master degree holders, in data and/or information management, or monitoring and evaluation departments, preferably with a UN Agency or an INGO.
- It is required to have proven knowledge of data management techniques, quantitative analysis, and methods
- It is required to have proven experience with key business tools (e.g., Excel, PowerPivot, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
- It is required to have proven experience with analytics tools (e.g., Microsoft SQL, PowerBI, Google Analytics)
Languages
Excellent command of spoken and written Arabic and English is must
Contract Type & Duration:
- Limited Duration Contract, 6 Months, renewable (depending on the performance and the funding availability)
- The monthly basic salary shall be 1,448.30 US$ at Band E.
- Other conditions of service and benefits may apply.
- An existing LDC member can apply to this LDC post but will not be allowed to assume such post through secondment as he/she needs to leave his/her current status to accept the new LDC appointment.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Knowledge and experience in statistical systems like SPSS, SAS, Stata, and in qualitative data analysis is desirable
