Duties and Responsibilities

  • Service Management
  1. Manage, prioritize and take ownership of tasks assigned to Oracle Database team as required
  2. includes service requests, change requests, incidents, project tasks and others as required
  3. Monitor and take ownership of tasks assigned to Oracle Database team ensuring completion within SLA targets
  • Technical Support
  1. Provide support for all Oracle Database Hosting SDAs
  2. Design, install, configure and support Oracle Grid infrastructure including Real Application Clusters (RAC), ASM and databases
  3. Administer and support Oracle Exadata systems including storage provisioning, VM provisioning, patching and upgrading
  4. Implement backups using RMAN, standby databases using Data Guard, monitoring using Oracle Enterprise Manager
  5. Assist in the design, development, implementation and maintenance of database automation tasks using Ansible and related technologies
  6. Perform database clones and backups using RMAN as well as NAS storage snapshot/clone/replication technology
  7. Provide on-call support (either on-site or remotely using VPN connectivity) outside normal working hours as required on a rotational basis
  8. Other database administration tasks as required.
  9. Provide support for setup/architecture of Oracle Enterprise Manager including setup of monitoring, alerting and scripts/interfaces to Help Desk systems
  10. Manage NAS shares for use with Oracle databases and related systems
  11. Co-ordinate with Oracle Support for resolution of problems and incidents
  12. Perform troubleshooting and performance tuning activities as required
  13. Apply database patches, updates and perform upgrades
  14. Assist in the planning and running of disaster recovery tests
  15. Perform capacity management and reporting as required
  16. Produce documentation as required
  17. Perform support activities during planned maintenance windows outside of normal working hours
  18. Perform other duties as required

Education

  • A university degree or master's degree from an accredited educational institution in information technology, information management, Information systems, computer science, computer engineering, Software engineering, Business Administration, Management, or other related disciplines;

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience for a bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years for a master's degree in IT management, and Oracle DBA experience.
  • Experience with latest version of Oracle Enterprise Manager including installation, configuration, patching and upgrading
  • Oracle Exadata administration experience, including upgrades and patching
  • Extensive knowledge and support experience of:
    • Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC)
    • Oracle Dataguard
    • Oracle RMAN
  • Experience in automating database administration activities

Contract Conditions.

  • The duration of the consultancy is 6 to 11 months, extendable according to performance and availability of funds.
  • Remuneration for this consultancy will be $1,800.00 and depend on fund availability, qualifications, and relevant experience.
  • The incumbent will be in any UNRWA field of operation (Gaza, West Bank, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan).
