Première Urgence Internationale is a non-profit, non-political, non-religious international NGO. Première Urgence Internationale has been operational in the Occupied Palestinian Territory since 2002. In cooperation with academic partners, Première Urgence Internationale is carrying out a multidimensional program: INTQAL; to strengthen the professional training of young people and their capacity for resilience through the protection of heritage.
The Cultural Heritage Field Assistant will work with PUI staff and INTIQAL2030 team to achieve the targets of the project: “Protection and promotion of Palestinian tangible and intangible Cultural heritage at local, national and international levels” by assisting in following up protection and restoration work, capacity building program and promotional activities.
The Cultural Heritage Field Assistant will report to Community Engagement and Advocacy officer.
This is a full-time position from Sundays to Thursdays.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Following up with beneficiaries; technicians, qualified workers, and new students.
- Conduct regular field visits to archaeological sites (the Saint Hilarion monastery, the roman cemetery, and the Byzantine church)
- Follow up on the monthly payment of beneficiaries
- Support the development of agreements with beneficiaries and follow up by signing them and providing updated versions to the administration department
- Follow up on the compliance of beneficiaries with safety tools and security instruction.
- Report any security incident to the line manager
- Insure that the administration department is fully aware of any recruitment of beneficiaries before starting the work
- Participate in following up on the implementation of the capacity-building program and training.
- Assist community engagement and advocacy officer in the selection of beneficiaries
- Participate in organizing periodical meetings with beneficiaries, trainees, and trainers and report all meeting minutes
- Follow up the implementation of oral history training activity
- Make sure that documents of all beneficiaries are gathered and archived
- Report any complain from beneficiaries and trainees to the line manager
- Follow up on the implementation of specific promotional and community engagement activities.
- Support the organisation of archaeological tours for the public in the Gaza Strip
- Participate in preparing promotional materials for the social media
- Follow up with companies and suppliers in charge of producing promotional materials
- Assist INTIQAL team in organizing open days in the Saint Hilarion monastery
- Follow up on the implementation of children’s excavation activities
- Propose a new innovative ideas and methods to implement the promotional activity
- Effective participation in reporting process
- Support qualitative and timely reporting process at internal levels: weekly & monthly
- Provide information to the line manager during drafting donor reports
- Support the update Project Management Tool (PMT) on a monthly basis
- Report daily when operational challenges/ constraints occur during site visits or implementing activities
- Support the documentation all Source of verifications (SoV) related to operations, scan and archive operation documents and prepare binders
- The list of tasks described above is the general framework of your duties; your job profile can be redefined or modified on your request or at the request of your supervisor and after validation of the HR Unit.
REQUIREMENTS:
- A bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Archaeology, or related fields
- Background in architecture and or archaeology fields
- 2 years of experience in NGO or cultural institutions
- Knowledge of donor requirements is an asset
