DCIP is an independent, local Palestinian child rights organization dedicated to defending and promoting the rights of children living in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip. For 25 years, we have investigated, documented and exposed grave human rights violations against children; held Israeli and Palestinian authorities accountable to universal human rights principles; and advocated at the international and national levels to advance access to justice and protection for children
Defense for Children International - Palestine seeks a Local & international advocacy officer, critical thinker and writer with a strong understanding of the region and a demonstrated interest in promoting children’s rights.
The selected individual will develop and implement international advocacy projects for a hybrid journalism and advocacy digital content platform, focused on the rights situation of Palestinian children.
This full-time position (40 hours / week), based in the West Bank city of Ramallah, offers a competitive local salary commensurate with experience. Hours are flexible but involve some evenings. The position reports to the Accountability Program Director and Managing Editor.
:Responsibilities
- –Identify key human rights risk areas to Palestinian children and design broad, strategic advocacy and content plan across multiple platforms highlighting these concerns.
- Produce online content for DCIP website and other media, including case summaries, news alerts, features, op-eds, reports, advocacy campaigns, and social media posts.
- – Coordinate closely with DCIP’s documentation team to structure, fact-check and follow-up on field research.
- –Develop relationships and partnerships with local NGOs relevant to children’s rights.
- –Build and maintain traditional and new media relationships to increase DCIP content exposure.
- –Ensure clear and consistent messaging and style across all platforms.
- –Promote content to maximize audience.
- –Update website and/or re-design to ensure an engaging, effective, and user-friendly website that compels users to take action.
- –Assist in training and overseeing interns.

Requirements
- –Bachelor’s degree in international relations, journalism, law, social sciences, or related studies is required. Master’s degree a plus.
- –Proficiency in Arabic and English. Hebrew a plus.
- –At least three years of advocacy, research, editorial or journalistic experience, particularly on topics of Middle East, human rights, and children.
- –Ability to develop and implement effective advocacy and research strategies.
- –Superior writing skills across traditional and new media platforms.
- –Experience with online content promotion, including social media, digital analytics, and search optimization.
- –Copy-editing (AP style) and fact-checking skills.
- –Basic photography skills, multimedia production and visual design (i.e. ability to create infographics/memes) a plus.
- –Established network of journalists, writers and social media influencers with a focus on the Middle East.
- –Strong critical analysis, interpersonal and deadline management skills.
