International Medical corps is currently looking for: 
  • Male MHPSS Counselor (1).
  • Capacity: Full Time Contract
  • Desired Start Date: 01, January 2023
  • End date: 30 April 2023 (with the potential for extension depending on available funding)
  • Location: Gaza City.
  • Reports to MHPSS Technical Supervisor   

JOB SUMMARY


The MHPSS Counselor will be responsible for providing expert services to community members in need for individual and/ or group counselling. This involves MHPSS case management, individual counselling sessions, family counselling sessions, psychoeducation activities, and/ or group counselling sessions.

The MHPSS Counselor will contribute to capacity building of program volunteers and other relevant staff members of the project’s partners. He will also contribute to providing on - the - job technical support to the project’s volunteers.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function with or without reasonable accommodation.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Understand and identify the psychosocial needs of patients.
  2. Carry out Brief Individual and Group PSS Counseling sessions to patients to alleviate their psychosocial difficulties/distress within the project scope.
  3. Refer patients to other specialists or other institutions for further appropriate assistance, when necessary, to propose the best support available.
  4. Permanent preserving patient confidentiality, according to IMC Policy and Guidelines.
  5. Participate in the creation of any material needed for PSS counseling and psychoeducational activities.
  6. Implementing MHPSS awareness Sessions when it is required.
  7. Ensure reporting about activities and proper data collection to the line manager, keep files and statistics of daily activities, and participate in team meetings.
  8. Regularly participate in supervision sessions implemented by the IMC Gaza MHPSS Manager.
  9. Do any other task/activity required by the IMC Gaza MHPSS Manager.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  1. The qualified candidate will be a mental health professional (psychologist, psychotherapist, social worker, psychiatrist, psychiatric nurse, or other related background)
  2. Experience working with NGOs with minimum of 2 years of professional experience in MHPSS projects in humanitarian settings.
  3. Good level of English.
  4. Good know-how with Excel, Word, and Power Point.
  5. Honest, hardworking, and self-motivated
  6. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within different cultural environments
  7. Legal license of practicing Psychologist, Psych. Counselor, Mental Health Professional, is preferred.
