Job Description 

The Social Worker will report directly to the Psychosocial Program Manager. S/he will collaborate with the Psychosocial Program Manager across TYO’s programs to identify families’ most critical needs and design customized intervention plans. The Social Worker will visit each family on a weekly basis to provide in-home family intervention and educational services. In the process, the Social Worker will work closely with the Psychosocial Program Manager to identify families’ most critical needs. The Social Worker will advance TYO’s holistic, systemic efforts to promote individual, family, and community well-being. Like all TYO staff, the Social Worker will dedicate energy towards improving the social-emotional well-being of the Nablus community.

What You'll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

  1. Work with the Psychosocial Program Manager to develop holistic treatment plans tailored to families’ educational, financial, medical, security, and mental health needs. 
  2. Serve as a first point of contact with families when identifying needs and reporting the needs to the Psychosocial Program Manager. 
  3. Supervise the ongoing implementation of families’ treatment plans. 
  4. Meet with the Psychosocial Program Manager to discuss individual cases. 
  5. Adjust plans based on feedback from the Psychosocial Program Manager. 
  6. Design and implement strategies to promote communication at all levels of the family. 
  7. Collaborate with the Psychosocial Program Manager to develop custom, in-home trainings to teach families to support individuals with critical needs. 
  8. Coordinate with the Psychosocial Program Manager to identify the most effective methods to promote communication within each family. 
  9. Gather and analyze data about families’ progress. 
  10. Collaborate with the Psychosocial Program Manager to monitor, evaluate, and report family visits. 
  11. Collaborate with the Psychosocial Program Manager to report about families’ ongoing needs. 
  12. Plan and implement a psychology/social work practicum for youth ages 20-35. In collaboration with the Psychosocial Program Manager, develop training materials for a psychology and social work practicum. 
  13. Lead training sessions in social work methods. 
  14. Guide practicum participants during field work component of trainings. 
  15. Mentor participants about further opportunities to build social work expertise.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree (BA) in social work, psychology, or a mental health-related field. Master’s degree (MA) preferred. 
  2. Knowledge about different educational, financial, medical, security, and mental health resources available in the Nablus Governorate and throughout Palestine.
  3. Knowledge about social work, psychology, and other mental health training and research programs available in Palestine. 
  4. 2-4 years of practical experience conducting social work activities among disadvantaged populations, preferably in the West Bank of Palestine. 
  5. Experience developing and implementing social work trainings for youth ages 20-35. 
  6. Experience collaborating with psychologists and other mental health professionals to discuss specific cases and accomplish common goals. 
  7. Experience triaging mental health cases to prioritize clients with the greatest needs. 
  8. Experience monitoring, evaluating, and reporting about multiple cases on a regular basis. 
  9. Strong interpersonal communication skills. 
  10. Ability to multi-task and provide high-quality support to multiple families at once. 
  11. Strong organizational and short and long-term planning skills. 
  12. Ability to use evaluation tools and data to analyze families’ strengths and weaknesses. 
  13. Clear commitment to TYO’s mission to empower disadvantaged children, youth, and parents to realize their potential as healthy, active and responsible family and community members. 
  14. Fluency in Arabic and excellent written and spoken English.
