Global Platform Coordinator - ActionAid"Bethlehem"

ActionAid (AA) is a federation with 45 national members. AAP has been working in Palestine for 15 years in strengthening the capacity and empowering individuals and collectives, especially, of the marginalised and most vulnerable so that they can attain justice and dignity. Over the years, AAP has supported the organisational and capacity development of local partners (CBOs, NGOs, etc.) in its engagement with communities.

The Global Platform (GP) is integral part of AAP program. And it part a global network of youth training hubs for empowerment and activism. The key mandate of GPs is to equip youth with the confidence, knowledge, and skills to be active citizens and to engage with decision makers.   The first GPs started in Tanzania and Denmark in 2009 and as of present has expanded to 23 training centres including Palestine. The platforms are founded on experiential and participatory learning techniques that have evolved through inspiration from great educational thinkers like Paulo Freire and John Dewey. The GPs are an extension of ActionAid’s strong experience providing formal and non-formal training using participatory methods

ActionAid is seeking a qualified person to fill the position of Global Platform Coordinator for 12 months period (extendable).
 
The post location is Bethlehem.
 
Start Date: Immediately.

The key responsibilities areas for this position will be as follows:

  1. Develop annual and quarterly work plans, budgets for the GP.
  2. Overall guidance and support to ensuring training quality, effectiveness and contextualizing to Palestine and the region.
  3. Maintain regular contact with line managers in AAP.
  4. Supervision and management of the GP Team. Establishing a team spirit and ownership of the work of the Global Platform among GP staff.
  5. maintain strong working relationships with the wider AAP team to ensure that GP is contributing to and owning AAP CSP.
  6. Ensure the GP is proactive and can facilitate the required capacity development for AAP partners.
  7. In conjunction with the AAP SMT members, identify potential partners in the country/region with whom longer term programme partnerships can be developed.
  8. Overall responsibility for the financial management, compliance of GP which includes development of annual budgets, monthly accounting and quarterly reporting in line with AA processes and guidelines and reporting to AAP
  9. Develop key communications materials (online and offline) to promote GP amongst identified partners in Palestine and beyond;
  10. Develop factsheets, success stories and lessons learnt.
  11. deliver capacity development initiatives.

Eligible applicants are required to have the following qualifications and skills:

  1. Bachelor's degree in International Development, Political Science, Global Studies, Sociology, International Relations, Cultural Studies or any related field.
  2. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in providing trainings in the field of Youth empowerment and leadership, citizenship, governance, advocacy, gender, Human Rights Based Approach.
  3. Strong leadership and coordination skills, experience with intercultural and participatory leadership
  4. Experience with and ability to work within a team, some years of people management experience
  5. Teamwork and respect for diversity: ability to operate effectively across organizational boundaries; ability to establish and maintain effective partnerships and harmonious working relations in a multi-cultural environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity and gender;
  6. experience in peer to peer learning, participatory training methods and action research is desirable
  7. A high degree of maturity and trust in own abilities
  8. Able to make independent decisions, while respecting the input and position of others.
  9. High degree of tenacity
  10. Innovative and entrepreneurial mind-set
  11. Strong analytical skills and good political judgment is desirable
  12. Previous experience in working with youth volunteer programs, social movements or mobilization of young people.
  13. Fluent English language is required.
 
Indicative salary range: ILS 84,508.05 to ILS 102,957.49 gross per annum.
