Duties and Responsibilities
- Implements the day-to-day operations and follows all relevant Health Department policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried in a controlled and consistent manner;
- Arranges the received medical supplies in the pharmacy in the health center following the standards of First Expiry First Out (FEFO); maintains medicines properly stored in compliance with all relevant safety, quality, health, and environmental procedures to ensure a healthy and safe work environment;
- Documents movements of medicine in the available pharmaceutical information system to enable assessment of the quantities to be ordered and other issues related to stock management.
- Dispenses medication prescribed by the Medical Officer to patients based on good dispensing practice;
- Provides advice and counselling to patients regarding the modality of intake of medications, their potential side effects and possible interactions with other medications/foods/supplements;
- In the absence or unavailability of Senior Health Centre Pharmacist:
- Advises Medical Officers and other health staff in the health center on related side effects of medications, possible drug-drug interactions and ensures rational prescribing of medications and update HHC on the consumption of medical supplies , near expire medications and others.
- Educates groups and individuals on various issues with regards to medications to ensure effective transfer of knowledge and awareness.
- Produces periodic reports regarding the activities of the Health center pharmacy with an in-depth analysis of the findings;
- Maintains the cleanliness and tidiness of the dispensary;
- Ensures the proper recording and reporting of health information on the electronic medical records system;
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Academic Qualifications:
- A University Degree from an accredited educational institution in Pharmacy.
Job - Specific Qualification
- Possession of a license to practice pharmacy in the country of duty station is required.
Experience:
- It is required to have at least three years of progressively responsible and relevant professional experience in a similar role.
- It is required to have experience in the use of computers and an understanding of their use in health applications.
Languages
Excellent command of written and spoken Arabic and English.
Service conditions:
Type of Contract: Fixed Term Appointment
Duration of Contract: 3 years including 1 year probation period, with the possibility of further extension, subject to the availability of funds, satisfactory performance and continuing need.
Conditions of service:
- Basic Salary: Monthly basic salary from $1,372.10; and monthly dependency allowance up to $123.25.
- Leave: 36 days of annual leave for staff attending UNRWA duty stations with six-day working week. 30 days of annual leave for staff attending UNRWA duty stations with five-day working week.
- Pension: Provident Fund contribution (15.2% of basic salary paid by the Agency)
