ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

These jobs are found in Country Offices (COs), The Job holders report to a Head of the Unit, Chief or Information Technology Officer, or the designate.
At this level job holders are expected to take responsibility for completion of a range of processes and activities requiring interpretation of standard guidelines/practices. Job holders are able to recommend a course of action to staff at various levels and may allocate tasks to other staff.

JOB PURPOSE

  1. Provide WFP Palestine Country office and staff with any requested ICT services and supports in compliance with WFP IT Hardware and software standards.
  2. Carry out system maintenance tasks such as performing monitoring tasks, running system diagnostics, and system optimization, to ensure they are running effectively and enable easy and efficient use.
  3. Setup and maintain of the Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN), Multi-Functional Printers, VoIP telephony systems, Wireless Access Points/Controllers, ... etc.).
  4. Maintain technology, including standard repairs, configuration, and storage, in accordance with data security and access controls to ensure IT equipment required for WFP staff is available.
  5. Maintain and monitor network and systems, servers, and peripherals, using standard tools to diagnose problems, and identify IT security vulnerabilities or attacks (Viruses, intrusions, and other mal functions).
  6. Disseminate and maintain standard materials, such as computer hardware and/or software for WFP main office and all sub offices in the country.
  7. Maintain a backup plan to backup all WFP Office/s data on timely basis.
  8. Perform routine deployments of server hardware and software, including testing and the identification of problems, to contribute to the effective functioning of technology.
  9. Carry our VMWare administrative tasks and services on VMWare system including running VMWare hosts and machines, Add/Remove/Monitor of VM machines, ... etc.).
  10. Carry our Domain Controller administrative tasks and services including Active
    Directory services, Global accounts, DNS, DHCP, File Server, Print Server ... etc.).

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

  1. Provide standard training to end users of technology and systems to ensure staff use standard technology and systems effectively.
  2. Provide training and support of WFP staff in emerging technologies and applications (mainly Office365, Outlook, Unified Communications, VoIP telephony, Digital Services, ... etc.).
  3. Provide training and support of WFP staff for Cloud solutions and collaboration applications (e.g., OneDrive, Azure, ZOOM, TEAMS, SharePoint, ... etc.).
  4. Install, operate, and maintain emergency telecommunications systems and equipment, to ensure optimal services in compliance with standard operations procedures.
  5. Install and maintain mobile telecommunication equipment (such as Digital Radios, BGAN, IRIDIUM, Thuraya, Thuraya IP, ... etc.).
  6. Maintain, test Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plan, including Telecommuting.
  7. Setup, configure and maintain information records such as updating web pages and statistical databases, and creating Dashboards to ensure the information is current and well organized.
  8. Maintain staff support and request tickets in WFP corporate ticketing system.
  9. Store and maintain WFP ICT systems logs or archives of information in database for proper data presentation and visualization using Dash-boards tools.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of BA degree In information technology / Software Engineer or Computer Science  in the related functional area is desirable.
Language:  Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Arabic

DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE

  1. Has experience resolving more complex technical issues.
  2. Has worked with head of units in defining requirements for functional area.
  3. Has experience with the application of client services standards to resolve or escalate clients’ service problems.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Fixed-term Appointment:  an appointment for a continuous period of one year and shall have a specified expiration date and subject to a probationary period of one year, which may be extended to 18 months.

Annual Net Pay Salary:  Fixed Term/ GS 5 

Staff Assessment A staff assessment, comparable to national income tax, shall be applied to the gross salaries and such other payments as are computed on the basis of salary, The assessment shall be calculated at rates set forth in the FAO Administrative Manual.

Duty Station: Jerusalem and Reports To: Senior IT Associate

Dependency allowances: applicable to children up to 18 years of age, or up to 21 years in full-time school attendance

United Nation Joint pension fund a deduction  of 7.9% from the pensionable remuneration will be made from the net salary, the WFP will contribute of 15.8%

Medical Insurance: mandatory for staff member and can be extended to dependents  in a cost sharing

Annual leave: 2.5 days a month and Sick leave: 2 days per month

Official Holiday: 10 days as officially established for each duty station
