Responsibilities
- Supports the mainstreaming of protection principles and standards in UNRWA service delivery and programmes including but not limited through the protection alignment review.
- Undertakes integrated assessments according to standard operating procedures in close coordination with other programme staff (including school principals, chief medical officers, chief area officers and other installations managers).
- Conducts regular field missions to gather information and data on protection issues in order to analyse and report on the protection context and specific issues encountered in the field.
- Identifies emerging areas of concern as a basis for informing programmatic and advocacy responses.
- Contributes to designing a comprehensive protection strategy by providing technical support and inputs (including in the areas of humanitarian principles, general protection, gender-based-violence, child protection and disabilities).
- Builds and maintains relationships with a broad network of stakeholders (including local authorities, UN agencies and NGOs as well as beneficiaries and other persons of concern) who can contribute to protection responses for Palestine refugees.
- Provides/supports external briefings on protection to various interlocutors as required.
- Supports the delivery of trainings to UNRWA personnel on humanitarian principles and protection as required.
- Prepares reports, briefings, and training materials as required and conducts oral and written translations of Arabic and English where required.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor(s).
Education
- A university degree from a recognized university-level academic institution, preferably in social sciences, political affairs, international relations, law, or a related field.
Work Experience
It is required to have at least four years of relevant experience, preferably in protection, human rights, humanitarian/relief emergency operations, or other related discipline.
Languages
*Good Working knowledge of English.
Desirable Qualifications
- Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of humanitarian principles.
- Strong knowledge in protection (GBV, child protection, disability inclusion).
- Competency in data collection and analysis
- Familiarity with key business tools (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Outlook).
- High interpersonal and communication skills.
- Possession of a valid driving license is an advantage.
Special Notice
Contract Type & Duration:
Limited Duration Contract, 1 year, renewable (depending on the need, performance and the funding availability)
Conditions of service:
- The monthly basic salary shall be 1,713.80 US$ at Band F.
- Other conditions of service and benefits may apply.
