Responsibilities

  1. Implements the day-to-day operations and follows all relevant Health Department policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried in a controlled and consistent manner.
  2. Arranges the received medical supplies in the health center pharmacy following the standards of First Expiry First Out (FEFO); maintains medicines properly stored in compliance with all relevant safety, quality, health and environmental procedures to ensure a healthy and safe work environment.
  3. Documents movements of medicine in the available pharmaceutical information system to enable assessment of the quantities to be ordered and other issues related to stock management.
  4. Dispenses medication prescribed by the Medical Officer to patients based on good dispensing practice
  5. Provides advice and counselling to patients regarding the modality of intake of medications, their potential side effects and possible interactions with other medications/foods/supplements.
  6. In the absence or unavailability of Senior Health Centre Pharmacist:
    1. Advises Medical Officers and other health staff in the health centre on related side effects of medications, possible drug-drug interactions and ensures rational prescribing of medications and update HHC on the consumption of medical supplies , near expire medications and others
    2. Educates groups and individuals on various issues with regards to medications to ensure effective transfer of knowledge and awareness.
    3. Produces periodic reports regarding the activities of the health center pharmacy with an in-depth analysis of the findings.
  7. Maintains the cleanliness and tidiness of the health center pharmacy.
  8. Ensures the proper recording and reporting of health information on the electronic medical records system
  9. Performs other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Education

  • A University Degree of five or six years from an accredited educational institution in Pharmacy.

Job - Specific Qualification

  • Possession of a license to practice pharmacy in the country of duty station is required.

Work Experience

  • It is required to have at least four years of progressively responsible and relevant professional experience in a similar role.
  • It is required to have experience in the use of computers and an understanding of their use in health applications.
  • It is required to indicate your ID number

Special Notice

Contract Type & Duration:
  • Fixed Term Appointment
  • Duration of Contract: 3 years including 1 year probation period, with the possibility of further extension, subject to the availability of funds, satisfactory performance and continuing need.

Conditions of service:
  • Basic Salary: Monthly basic salary from $1,431.50; and monthly dependency allowance up to $123.25.
  • Leave: 36 days of annual leave for staff attending UNRWA duty stations with six-day working week. 30 days of annual leave for staff attending UNRWA duty stations with five-day working week.
  • Pension: Provident Fund contribution (15.2% of basic salary paid by the Agency)
  • Other conditions of service and benefits may apply.
