About the Organization:
BASMA Society for Culture and Arts, also known as BASMA, was established in 1991 and officially registered as a local NGO in 2006 by the Ministry of Interior (Registration No. 7591). As a Palestinian non-profit organization, BASMA aims to invigorate the Palestinian cultural movement through a range of high-quality interactive arts, cultural, social, and psychological support programs, as well as skills development activities.
Specializing in theater, drama, and psychological and social support, BASMA operates in the field of culture and the arts. Its primary objective is to contribute to the development of Palestinian society by offering cultural, educational, recreational, and psychological support initiatives tailored to various social segments and Persons with Disabilities (PwDs). BASMA's programs and projects are designed to benefit Palestinian children, youth, women, and PwDs.
These programs encompass courses and campaigns advocating for the rights of marginalized groups and PwDs, psychosocial support programs, and resources such as the "DEAL" guides. BASMA also engages in youth empowerment programs, including the "Dunia al-Shabab" radio initiative, as well as activities to promote volunteerism and encourage youth initiatives for community service. Additionally, BASMA provides training programs to enhance the skills of employees in the technical aspects of acting, directing, and scriptwriting, thereby building their capacity in these fields.
Project Overview:
BASMA is launching a new project titled "Enhancing the Effectiveness of Drama Extracurricular Activities in North Gaza Government Schools through the Gaza Juniors Theater Club". This project aims to provide drama education and extracurricular activities to students in government schools, fostering their creativity, critical thinking, and self-confidence. The project team works on promoting School-Based Teaching and Learning Excellence in North Gaza at Accessing Quality Education based on Children Puppet Theater and Drama in 2023-2024.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Project Field Coordinator to oversee the implementation and management of the project. The Project Field Coordinator will play a pivotal role in coordinating with the partner organization of BAITONA and 16 government schools and 8 local CBOs, managing project activities, and ensuring the smooth execution of the project in North Gaza.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate and communicate with project stakeholders, including BAITONA, partner CBOs, school administrators, teachers, and community members.
- Organize and facilitate various project-related activities such as workshops, drama sessions, meetings of the Multi-Stakeholders Working Group-MSWG, Parents-DEAL Sessions, etc.
- Develop a comprehensive project implementation plan with clear timelines and deliverables.
- Coordinate with partner organizations and other stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the Gaza Art Festival.
- Ensure the enrollment of talented children in the Gaza Junior Theater Club-GazaJTC and oversee the proper execution of mobile theater shows in peripheral areas.
- Regularly monitor and evaluate project activities to track progress, identify areas for improvement, with a focus on the work of the Disability Mainstreaming Coordinator, Community Educators, and the 32 school staff members.
- Provide guidance and support to drama facilitators, workshop trainers, community educators, puppet theater trainers, and other individuals involved in the project.
- Collaborate with the project team to develop and implement strategies for community engagement and participation, acting as a coordination link between BASMA, the Ministry of Education (MoE), and the targeted schools in North Gaza.
- Prepare periodic reports on project activities, including accomplishments, challenges, and recommendations for future actions, utilizing tools like Pre/Post KAP Questionnaires and other relevant tools.
- Ensure adherence to project objectives, budgetary constraints, and reporting requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, social sciences, business administration or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in project field coordination or management, preferably in the field of education or community development.
- Strong understanding of drama education and its impact on child development.
- Experience working with schools, teachers, and community stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Familiarity with the North Gaza region and its educational institutes/schools is highly desirable.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure in a challenging environment.
