JOB SUMMARY

The MHPSS Psychosocial Worker will be responsible for providing expert services to community members in need for individual and/ or group counselling. This involves MHPSS case management, individual counselling sessions, family counselling sessions, psychoeducation activities, and/ or group counselling sessions.

The MHPSS Psychosocial Worker will contribute to capacity building of program volunteers and other relevant staff members of the project’s partners. He will also contribute to providing on - the - job technical support to the project’s volunteers.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSABILITIES

  1. Understand and identify the psychosocial needs of patients.
  2. Carry out Brief Individual and Group PSS Counseling sessions to clients to alleviate their psychosocial difficulties/distress within the project scope.
  3. Refer clients to other specialists or other institutions for further appropriate assistance, when necessary, to propose and/ or provide the best support available.
  4. Maintaining the confidentiality of client, according to IMC Policy and Guidelines.
  5. Participate in the creation of any material needed for PSS counseling and psychoeducational activities.
  6. Implementing MHPSS awareness Sessions when it is required.
  7. Ensuring accurate and complete reporting about activities, sharing them with relevant MHPSS Program supervisors and/ or other relevant IMC departments.
  8. Keep files and statistics of daily activities,
  9. Actively participating in team meetings.
  10. Regularly participate in supervision sessions lead by the MHPSS technical Supervisor.
Perform any other relevant task/activity requested by MHPSS Technical Supervisor, MHPSS Manger, and/ or MHPSS Coordinator.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  1. The qualified candidate will be a mental health professional (psychologist, psychotherapist, social worker, psychiatrist, psychiatric nurse, or other related background)
  2. Experience working with NGOs with minimum of 2 years of professional experience in MHPSS projects in humanitarian settings.
  3. Good level of English.
  4. Good know-how with Excel, Word, and Power Point.
  5. Honest, hardworking, and self-motivated
  6. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within different cultural environments
  7. Legal license of practicing Psychologist, Psych. Counselor, Mental Health Professional, is preferred.

JOB SUMMARY


The GBV Facilitator/Women Empowerment Officer is responsible for planning and implementing women and girls’ empowerment activities under the direct supervision of the GBV Manager and in close collaboration with the rest of the GBV team, and the MHPSS and Health department. The GBV Facilitator will contribute to violence prevention and empowerment activities in Gaza. The position requires a personal commitment to be working with and for women and girls in the community.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSABILITIES

  1. Plan and organize awareness sessions (e.g. GBV, sexual and reproductive health, early marriage, and Protection related issues for women and girls), psychosocial support sessions and soft−skill trainings at other safe spaces (e.g. community spaces, clinics, schools and mosques) in collaboration with community members, community groups, and any other stakeholders.
  2. Work closely with the medical and mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) teams and ensure their support in facilitating relevant sessions.
  3. Engage with the community in actively designing and implementing the activities & GBV services to ensure buy-in and support for associated activities.
  4. Coordinate with other (e.g. protection, child protection, education) actors to ensure their support when needed.
  5. Ensure adherence to the GBV guiding principles throughout all activities.
  6. Ensure the voices of women and girls are integrated into all activities and discussions.
  7. Improve strategies for sharing information with communities, particular women and girls, about services available to them.
  8. Support arrangement of logistic aspects for awareness sessions, recreational activities and soft−skill trainings with the relevant office staff.
  9. Support referrals, including of GBV cases to GBV Case Manager in line with GBV guiding principles.
  10. Support conducting assessments, FGDs, surveys, safety audits, and service mapping.
  11. Assist with developing new curriculums, community training methodologies, activity contents, and impact assessment tools.
  12. Review and adjust the data collection tools to make sure the relevant, accurate and up−to−date information is always presented.
  13. Adapt services to changes occurring in the work environment, based on the feedback of the beneficiaries.
  14. Support with submitting weekly, monthly and quarterly work plans and reports as required.
  15. Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with IMC policies and procedures.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  1. Degree in social work, psychology, law or health-related field preferable
  2. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
  3. Experience in community mobilization, social work, counseling, or psychosocial services, capacity-building and leading focus group discussions
  4. At least one year experience in working with women, girls, women organizations or women’s group.
  5. Experience in implementing, creating and adapting group activities, preferably aiming at women and girl’s empowerment.
  6. Good understanding of protection principles, must demonstrate survivor- centered, respectful attitudes and a strong belief in gender equality
  7. Friendly, approachable and team-oriented communication skills
  8. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with relevant stakeholders.
  9. Strong ability to organize work, coordinate multiple tasks, meet deadlines, work in a professional environment, work under pressure, and work within a multi-cultural team.
  10. Knowledge of GBV prevention and response and women’s empowerment concepts
  11. Previous experience working in INGO or NGO preferable.
  12. Ability to design and implement appropriate and effective messaging and activities for GBV prevention and community outreach.
  13. Ability to work under little supervision and to complete tasks in a timely manner.
  14. Basic English and excellent oral and written Arabic skills
