Communication and Advocacy Coordinator - PFI
The Palestinian Federation of Industries (PFI) is a national umbrella institution representing the Palestinian industrial sector through its 16 industrial associations. Founded in 1999 as a permanent non-profit private sector organization. PFI’s representational role is to educate, advocate, and communicate the value of a developed socially responsible, and globally competitive industry. PFI’s industrial development strategy within industry associations leads to a stronger membership base capable of delivering valuable member services, effective policy formulation, and integrated communications.
(Pal-Trade) was established in 1998 as a non-profit, membership-based organization to “lead the development of Palestinian trade as a driving force for sustainable national economic growth”.
PFI in cooperation with Pal-Trade and in partnership with UNDP established a project “Gaza Economic Resilience Programme”. This project aims to enhance the competitiveness of SMEs by improving the competitive advantage of local products and working towards a better business-enabling environment in Gaza. This includes improving coordination, sharing knowledge, and providing greater support for import substitution.
Specific objectives: Inclusive Economic Opportunities through developmental support to the industrial sector
Outcome: Improved equitable access to economic opportunities, including decent jobs and sustainable livelihoods
Output 1: Gaza SMEs are more competitive with increased integration of green solutions and a more inclusive work environment

Output 2: Improved business enabling environment in Gaza, including better coordination, increased knowledge-sharing, and more significant support for import substitution
- Capacity Building of industrial associations.
- Enhancement of Strategies and Standards to protect local products.
- Implement awareness campaigns “Buy Local” Exhibition.
- Access to finance: (1 referral System Policy Study and initiative).
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Professional representation of PFI in front of official and public institutions and bodies whenever needed.
- To act as a point of contact for, and respond to, all fundraising inquiries and provide efficient and effective supporter care.
- Follow-up on the implementation of plans for the Operations and Development Department with various personnel in the department.
- Attend internal and external meetings with partners and financiers as a representative of the Operations and Development Department.
- Contribute to the preparation of project proposals offered to the sponsors and partners.
- Periodic communication with past, present, and future funders, both local and international, which are consistent with the organization's values and principles.
- Develop advocacy strategic and action plans in addition to a time framework.
- Develop, coordinate, and manage advocacy campaigns in cooperation with local and international civil organizations working in the industrial sectors.
- Manage and coordinate the relation with the industrial local and international networks.
- Enhance PFI’s role in the UNDP movement locally and internationally through developing and implementing advocacy campaigns.
- Develop advocacy reports that are full of facts, statistics, and fieldwork outcomes to activate international solidarity with the industrial sector.
- Observe and analyze national policies (social, political, and economic) related to the development of the industries sector, and coordinate meetings with decision-makers to draw attention to issues in accordance with the Organization's vision of the development of the industrial sector.
- Widen PFI networks locally and internationally.
- Supervise PFI's media campaigns for all of the programs and projects within the organization.
- Supervise all the advocacy campaigns and events within the organization, and provide periodical reports to the directors.
- Develop and maintain a secure information management system for all field research.
- Produce evidence-based online content for PFI’s website and other media, including news releases, features, reports, and social media posts, putting a human face on complex issues
- Create high-value informative content and resources for internal and external use
- Develop key messaging and talking points for advocacy initiatives.
- Maintain consistent editorial standards, including consistent style and voice across multiple platforms and types of content.
- Develop effective and strategic dissemination of advocacy and communications products.
- Build and maintain traditional and new media relationships to increase PFI’s content exposure.
- Support strategic outreach to media, including drafting op-eds, and other media tools to raise awareness about country office advocacy areas and urgent situations.
Represent the Organization in some advocacy-related events and meetings.
B.A. in journalism, communications, public administration, or another related field, a Master’s degree is preferred.
Skills/Knowledge: -
- Minimum 7 years of experience working with NGOs or INGOs in coordinating projects supporting the Private Sector, especially the industrial sector.
- Proven experience in the field of economic empowerment, especially related to Industrial Sectors and the challenges faces sector.
- Excellent written and spoken English Language.
- Strong reporting skills and ability to prepare quality narrative reports.
- Evidence of strong organizational skills; methodical in approach, with the ability to juggle many tasks at once and work to tight deadlines whilst maintaining accuracy.
- Demonstrable ability to use Microsoft Office (word, excel, outlook, access, and the Internet to produce fundraising reports, proposals, and presentation documents.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills – the ability to develop effective working relationships with people at all levels internally and externally.
- Able to work on own initiative and to be a contributing member of a small team.
- Fast learner, able and willing to pick up new skills quickly and with little supervision.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Basic understanding of fundraising practices.
