Mental Health Consultant for Local Staff MH Support

Please note that this is NOT an employment call. Engagement will be done based on a Service Contract.

Objective:

Program of Reducing physical and mental morbidity and mortality in the most vulnerable Palestinian communities affected by the conflict related violence in Hebron Governorate while preserving human dignity is looking for a psychologist or psychiatrist experienced in support staff responsible for providing care. The attention covered is intended to manage the distress produced by work related situations. 

Specifically:

Provide individual consultations, Group sessions, and workshops, to the staff, those shall be initiated/conducted thereof, upon the request and approval of the person in charge of the Technical Support of the project (TS). 

Referrals for individual consultation to other psychotherapist could be possible, under the coordination of the Mental Health Consultant and previous authorization of the TS.

Individual consultations shall be conducted either in the Consultant’s office, in the project offices in Hebron face-to-face; by Skype or by phone; upon the request and approval of the TS.   

The project shall provide a basic stationary for conducting group sessions and workshop about subjects as self- care, prevention of compassion fatigue and secondary traumatization for all medical staff from Hebron project.

In case of critical incident, or a severe security incident, besides the TS the Psychosocial Support Unit (PSU) in HQ should be alerted following the critical Incident Protocol in first hand and accordingly to the needs a collaboration of the Mental Health Consultant in Hebron/ West Bank / Jerusalem might be requested.

Conditions:

Working days:

Half to 1 working day per month, taking into consideration urgency and importance of the case.

Reporting:

A report mentioning general points and recommendations should be sent to the TS via email and to the Mental Health responsible of Staff Care Team and Medco, no later than 2 weeks after the session has been done.

General background for selection criteria.

Essential:

  1. Clinical Psychology/Psychiatrist
  2. Master degree / having completed psychotherapy training
  3. Experience in staff support
  4. Demonstrated minimum 5 (five) years’ clinical experience, supervised practice, workshops, group interventions
  5. Advanced knowledge of Arabic and English languages (reading/writing/speaking)
  6. Legal entity eligible to produce financial invoices
Desirable:

  1. Relevant knowledge on trauma, vicarious traumatisation, resilience, stress management, cumulative stress, crisis intervention
  2. Familiar with humanitarian context a plus
