Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists in budget preparation process; verifies, retrieves budget data related to assigned budget categories / portals (staff costs, non-staff costs/ Programme Budget, Emergency Appeals, Projects); communicates with budget holders in Headquarters’ Departments and Field Offices throughout the process.
- Checks accuracy of financial and budgetary information and reports discrepancies, prepares financial reports and documents as may be required and calculates, checks, reconciles and analyses financial and budgetary data related to the assigned budget categories / portals.
- Verifies, retrieves and certifies availability of funds and raises obligation documents in the computerized finance system and reconciles/analyses approved budget and expenditure reports related to the assigned budget categories / portals.
- Assists in controlling the approved budget ceilings and raises necessary Budget Allotments and Adjustments; assists the supervisor in raising and reviewing hard / soft commitments, fund reservations and available balances related to the assigned budget categories / portals; drafts necessary spreadsheets and estimates’ calculations.
- Assists in the monthly payroll transaction process, retrieves respective reports; verifies and takes necessary actions in coordination with budget holders, Fields/HQ Departments.
- Assists in reviewing monthly/quarterly expenditure review reports, follows up on any significant expenditure discrepancies, performs preliminary analysis of variances between approved budgets and actual expenditure and takes necessary corrective actions.
- Extracts reports related to Fields & HQ Departments, assists in the review of project proposals, drafts correspondence on financial and budgetary matters, communicates to concerned stakeholders as necessary.
Qualifications:
- A university degree from an accredited educational institution in business administration or related field.
Experience:
- At least two years of relevant experience in a finance or accounting office of a governmental, international commercial organization with an emphasis on cost accounting and budgeting within a computerized environment is required.

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
- Contract Type: Fixed Term Appointment for 3 years; including 1 year probation period, with the possibility of further extension, subject to the availability of funds, satisfactory performance, and continuing need.
- Grade and Salary, Grade 12 : Monthly basic salary $ 1,259.40.
- Other benefits: Other benefits include monthly Provident Fund contribution (15.4% of basic salary paid by the Agency), compulsory medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave, and dependency allowance (if applicable).
