Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Analyses information contained in communications and publications received from different sources; maintains up-to-date knowledge of events relating to political issues related to the UNRWA as well as the region while evaluating the results and impact of such various communications activities.
  2. Provides communications advice, expertise, and operational support to UNRWA’s media advisor, on a range of public affairs issues, methods and approaches; develops strategic partnerships with key constituencies to elicit support for promotional objectives during various phases of an operation.
  3. Assists senior officials with briefing notes, background papers and talking points related to UNRWA issues and communications.
  4. Prepares summaries of articles from a wide variety of sources and draft various correspondence and sections of relevant reports.
  5. Monitors political, socio-economic, and other politically relevant developments.
  6. Systematically follows through and retrieves, highlights and compiles information from a wide variety of information sources; prepares input for the electronic database and the internet and co-operate with research institutes and organizations in collecting data.
  7. Prepares various reports, presentations, tables, lists, charts, data sets, and/or diagrams for information to facilitate the in-depth analysis of the retrieved information by the supervisor and other users.
  8. Researches, compiles, and presents basic information for use in preparing and producing communications issues.
  9. Assists in formulating policy guidance on strategic communications and public information.
  10. Assists in identifying and monitoring substantive aspect of the work of the Division in various regions/countries. Selects and evaluates a variety of documents, summarizes pertinent material, collects, and analyses data and prepares background materials for assessment papers, studies, briefs and reports.

Qualifications:

  • BA in Journalism or Political Science.
  • At least five years of experience in related field.

Languages

Excellent command of spoken and written English and Arabic.
