Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Processes all cash/bank payment vouchers received from Accounts Payable section, and ensures they are appropriately approved and supported by proper documents, then issues due payments by bank transfer or by issuing cheques and orders to banks; distributes cheques and drafts to beneficiaries and banks; prepares bank drafts and maintains bank guarantees.
  2. Maintains all cash or cheque receipts for the Field office and ensures they are appropriately accounted in coordination with the relevant stakeholders including Headquarters for donations received; prepares acknowledgement letters and ensures funds are deposited into the bank.
  3. Is responsible for the imprest funds under his/her custody and ensures replenishment on timely manner; follows up on payments and receipts and prepares necessary imprest funds reports.
  4. Ensures all transactions, bank transfer, currency sales, bank receipts and payments are reflected in accounting systems and ensures foreign exchange gains(losses) are reported in the Financial reports; ensures correct bank accounts are reflected in systems for vendors
  5. before processing of payments.
  6. Processes payroll transfers for staff including temporary and daily paid and coordinates with the bank(s) to ensure necessary files, bank details etc. are provided; ensures the totals of disbursement matches with the bank payments vouchers; prepares reconciliations and reports as required.
  7. Responds to staff members, suppliers and contractors’ queries regarding their claims, invoices, entitlements and outstanding balances.
  8. Performs other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor(s).

Qualifications:

  • First university degree from an accredited educational institution in accountancy, banking and finance or related discipline.
  • Possession of a valid driving license is required.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in accounting and finance work, involving working experience with computerized treasury and finance systems is required.

Service Conditions:

  • Duration of Contract: 3 years including 1 year probation period, with the possibility of further extension, subject to the availability of funds, satisfactory performance and continuing need.
  •  Basic Salary: Monthly basic salary from $1259.40; and monthly dependency allowance up to $123.25.
  • • Leave: 36 days of annual leave for staff attending UNRWA duty stations with six-day working week. 30 days of annual leave for staff attending UNRWA duty stations with five-day working week.
  • • Pension: Provident Fund contribution (15.2% of basic salary paid by the Agency)
  • • Other conditions of service and benefits may apply.
